DFDS sells the Amsterdam - Newcastle crossing at dynamic prices: the travel date, vehicle, number of passengers, cabin category and when you book all determine the fare. Because the ferry sails overnight, the cabin is part of the total, and the category makes a noticeable difference depending on how many beds you share and whether the cabin is inside or has a sea view. Cabins and passengers
On the overnight ferry you pay not only for the vehicle but also for the cabin and everyone travelling with you. The cheapest option for families is usually an Economy inside cabin with up to four beds; couples choose between a double-bed cabin inside or with a sea view. Motorhomes, motorcycles and bicycles
Motorhomes, motorcycles and bicycles are booked as separate vehicle types. For a motorhome the price depends on length and height, so give the exact dimensions including bike rack and roof box. Extra costs around the crossing
With a dog you pay a fixed amount per animal and per journey; assistance dogs travel free. Foot passengers who leave their car in IJmuiden park right at the terminal and reserve their space in advance by phone with DFDS. The transfer bus into Newcastle and Amsterdam city centres is booked in advance, and your booking confirmation is your ticket.
Visitors to the UK need an ETA for every person, children included. You apply online to the UK government; it is valid for two years or until the passport you applied with expires. You usually get a decision within a day, but it can take up to three working days. Travellers with a British or Irish passport, or with permission to live in the UK, do not need one.

Yes, for the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) that every traveller without a British or Irish passport needs. The fee is shown in the table above, and you apply to the UK government.
